Bloom said illegal migrants commit a lot less crime than Americans

Celebrity lawyer Lisa Bloom sparked controversy on GB News when she told presenter Patrick Christys that increasing illegal migration to America would actually help reduce crime rates. The former lawyer for Harvey Weinstein made the extraordinary claim whilst discussing the violent riots currently engulfing Los Angeles.

"They commit a lot less crime than Americans. Show me a study which says I'm wrong. If you want less crime, import more illegals," Bloom declared during the heated exchange.

Her comments left Patrick visibly stunned, prompting him to respond: "Oh my gosh. Why don't they apply legally then?"

Bloom defended migrants amidst the chaos in Los Angeles, where large-scale rioting has erupted over immigration enforcement. She criticised President Trump's tactics, stating: "Trump's thugs have snatched women away from working in factories, they've taken mums out of graduation ceremonies."

The lawyer argued that the enforcement actions were targeting the wrong people. "They're whipping up Latinos and this is why people are so angry. We have no problem here. We did not vote for Trump. We like our migrants here. We like our neighbours," she said.

Bloom insisted Trump had broken his promise, claiming: "Trump said he was going to go after violent criminals, not mothers on sewing machines."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

The riots in Los Angeles have descended into widespread violence and looting, with footage showing mobs ransacking Foot Locker and T-Mobile stores in downtown areas. Multiple California Highway Patrol vehicles were attacked beneath a bridge as protesters hurled bikes and street signs at them.

The violence, which began over the weekend, has prompted President Donald Trump to deploy 2,000 California National Guard troops against the wishes of Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass. An Australian journalist covering the unrest was shot with a rubber bullet during a live broadcast.

Federal agents have used flash-bang grenades and tear gas to disperse crowds protesting the arrest of approximately 150 illegal immigrants in recent days.

Patrick challenged Bloom's position, asking: "Do you think you might be looking at things in rose-tinted glasses? While the people you mention may not be the problem, they represent something bigger."

He highlighted concerns about illegal immigration, noting: "A lot of people are coming into the country illegally with no representation and they crucially don't pay a penny in tax."

When Bloom responded that America's immigration system was "terrible", Christys raised the issue of gang violence in the country. Bloom maintained her stance, stating: "If they want to go after violent criminals, nobody would be upset. What people are upset about is them going after mums and girls."
