Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's company has pledged support for an organisation after meeting with its founder.

The Archewell Foundation has announced its support for Generation Patient, an organisation established by a woman who encountered Prince Harry at a New York conference earlier this year.

Sneha Dave, 26, met the Duke of Sussex at the "Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund" conference in Brooklyn on April 25, where young leaders in technology, safety, policy and innovation had assembled.

The foundation revealed on its website that it is "excited to highlight the inspiring grantees who are working towards a more inclusive and equitable technology ecosystem" as part of the fund's second cohort announcement.

Dave established Generation Patient when she was just 13 years old, creating an organisation that represents young adults living with chronic health conditions.

The group works to advance health equity through community building and systemic change, according to Archewell's announcement.

"Founded by Sneha Dave when she was 13 years old, the organization pairs direct peer support with research and advocacy," Archewell stated on its website.

Following her encounter with Prince Harry at the April conference, Dave expressed concerns about social media's recent trajectory.

She highlighted that influencers are conducting paid advertisements for prescription medications, with teenagers being targeted by pharmaceutical adverts on these platforms.

"We don't know how the FDA works with these companies to try to flag to make sure there's not misinformation being spread by influencers advertising these prescription medications," Dave told TechCrunch.

Her comments specifically addressed Big Tech platforms and the lack of clarity around regulatory oversight when influencers promote prescription drugs to young audiences without proper safeguards in place.

Dave has since become the youngest principal investigator recognised by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.

She also serves as a member of the Youth Leadership Advisory for the Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund this year.

Generation Patient operates peer support groups aimed at improving mental health outcomes for young adult patients while leveraging their experiences to shape health policy and information dissemination.

The organisation focuses particularly on "increasing oversight on pharmaceutical ads on social media," according to Archewell's statement.

Additionally, Generation Patient runs a scholars programme that trains young adult patients to participate in creating meaningful change within the healthcare system.

Through this combination of direct support and advocacy work, the organisation seeks to use the lived experiences of young people with chronic conditions to influence both policy decisions and the distribution of crucial health information.
